Well Taro, there are things called "models". You can use then to do things called "experiments". Yes, it would be simpler than the entire atmosphere, but that is sort of the whole idea. In general, you can extrapolate from the glass box to the atmosphere within certain limits.

Your understanding of science is apparently pretty limited. Here is a hint, it doesn't involve guesses and make believe...
