Don-- The Japanese may be changing--at a glacial rate, but changing nonetheless. Remember some months back when Hashimoto tried, as a politically conciliatory move, to appoint a convicted felon to his cabinet? There was such a public outcry that he was forced to back off. Could be a sign that the general populace is losing the blind faith it once had in authority figures. The problem, of course, is the authority figures themselves, who have perhaps not worked this out yet. Janice
