Interesting "beer facts." Don't really know if true, but makes good conversation. Here's one I heard on Leno a few years ago.

Many years ago in merry old England, the government realized much tax revenue was being lost on brothels operating without a proper business license. To remedy this problem, the King outlawed all brothels which failed to file for a business license with the tax collector. In order to communicate to would-be customers which brothels were legit & where they themselves would be free from prosecution & unwanted notoriety, these brothels posted signs above their establishments which said "Functioning Under Consent of the King." This saying was eventually acronymized into the modern vulgarity "f--k."
