Don't rely on desalination, it's energy intensive, and currently that means burning fossil fuels. California's prosperity is strongly dependent on water.

No, not jealous. The Research Triangle of NC is just fine. As a matter of fact, wishing it wasn't so fine. Too many people moving here. But as for Calexit... whatever floats your boat.
I do enjoy California for visiting. Have yet to make it to Yosemite.. it's on my list. I do hope to get there before
the 'big one'... :)
