I went back and did that too. 1. People got tired of bashing their heads against brick walls. I noticed I spent a lot more time on posts back in the day on threads where left and right mixed- and what I found was that all the time spent on the post either bought me an insult, or at most, an equally long post in return that was worthless to me- since the basis for its reasoning would never be something I could agree with. and 2. Many of the moderates have left. If you remember the Elian thread (which I went back and looked at) - there were divisions and name calling on that thread as fresh and current as today's divisions and name calling- because it was a polarizing issue. So when you combine 1 and 2 you get to where we are now on SI- sewers or Balkan states. I have seen nothing much in between on the political threads. And btw, it's nice to see you here even if your stay is brief. I think of you often, and wish so much that Rambi and I had gotten our acts together to visit you. It would have been fun (although I am glad you got to meet my daughter).
