Sorry, I hate the way Obamacare is set up. But the Republicans forced it. We liberals were just enraged that Obama took single-payer universal healthcare off the table before he even started negotiations. We know it was a give away. But, everyone knows that there is no way the Republicans were going to go for single-payer universal healthcare. Obama thought he could bring the Democrats and Republicans together by essentially using a Republican health plan and then he could get it through cngress. He was wrong on all accounts.

The other huge giveaway was what Bush did with big pharma on medications. We pay more for medications than any other western democracy. And we will pay more in the future because Trump has signled that by appointing Tom Price.

Imagine, they made it so that Medicare cannot bid for the best price on medications and equally bad, we are not allowed to import medications from places like Canada. They defended it by saying Canada is not safe-lol. Safer than here I will bet. The have rules!-lol.

The bottom line, is that the medical community is ripping the American off more than any other Western democracy I know of. I would like to see Medicare for everyone. So many old people are literally saved with Medicare. If I need a hip or knee replacement I just go get it, and the government pays for it. Nice and simple. Pick the doctor I want.

To take this discussion a step further, people need to understand that a society has the ultimate right. And a strong argument can be made that citizens medical needs is not something that should return a large profit. As I recall, private medical insurance has something like a 40% surcharge/overhead and for Medicare it is 4%.

If a person just goes and counts the number of lobbyists in the Congress for big Pharma and the insurance companies they would be appalled. I don't think the average person realizes that those lobbyists have huge power and as often as not, actually write the legislation and tax breaks they want for the people the're working for. I have authored and worked legislation through congress.

We liberals have been trying to get universal healthcare for almost 100 years. And the bottom line is that it has been the Republicans who keep blocking it. If all the Republican workers and poor voted Democratic we would have single payer universal health care immediately. And it is Republicans that intend to get rid of as much of the Obama care and Medicare as they can.

That is what Tom Price does to get all of his campaign contributions and has been trying to get for years. He has a track record. That is why Trump appointed him to be the secretary of H and SS. It is real simple and straightforward.

And Trump will trade that appointment for stuff he wants. What he does.

<<And you didn't answer my question about how you felt about Obamacare being a privatized system funded by government $$s?
