Checked with my wife who was our company plus in home accountant. Yes we do still pay a fee. Our monthly BC Med premium is $49.60 per month. Pay that much for a bottle of Jack Daniels. Not sure why you are billed so much. Unless you still have some sort of personal income.

Though we to are retired, our assets are still in a corporation. Which covers our costs of anything done in relationship to it. Coincidentally our holiday or travel plans at times happen to fall in line with the company interests.

From my viewpoint it is the Government's responsibility to collect as much revenue from it's citizens as they possibly can.
On the other hand it is my dedicated responsibility to legally use every loop hole to the fullest extent. In order to remit as little as possible. I would much rather squander what I have worked for myself. Instead of forwarding it to be squandered by some bureaucrat trying to get re-elected.

When you say rural. Central north province ? Being in the resource industry, Our company worked all over the province. A lot of years spent in the mid to northern parts of BC

Cheers
