This is a reveiw by Asean Experts as to the direction of Asia Indonesia Hong Kong problems Taiwan looks the safest our markets overvalued no mention of gold but coincides exactly with your post Alex. Their recommendation is really stay out of the Asian market for at least the next three months.

I think Greenspan's comments on deflation are bullish for gold,
Anyone worried about deflation would have to be worried
about the fall in metals prices. We may have an unlikely ally.
