Yes - thanks for reminding me of that story. I don't know how much truth there is to it but - maybe?

And today we have Compaq K6 233 MHz PCs (Presario 4540) and Compaq Intel Pentium MMX 166 Mhz PCs (Presario 4212ES) for $699.

And just who is making money in this rat race?

Everybody is rushing to give away their products for free.
