I think we can call the US a democracy, republic, or democratic republic, it doesn't matter.

Few even know the logical esoteric argument anyway.

Alexis de Tocqueville called his definitive work on our government:" democracy in America"

He did not call it Republican in America!

Preventing the marginalization of smaller states has always been a key tenet of our government structure. Nobody wants a country ruled by the 20 million people in So California. Therefore, the electoral college will never be changed, as long as the country has this Constitution. Most people call it a democratic republic, so I'm not sure why this is such a mystery for you.
