Where are you finding .tmp files that occupy so much space?

Make sure there are not any applications running, and then search and destroy .tmp files. Also, periodically check the \temp and \windows\temp directories. Some application will erroneously leave garbage in these directories.

Another way to free up space is to reconfigure the maximum size of the Recycle Bin. Some people like to let files hang around in there, and the default max size is 10% of your hard drive space.

The next suggestion can be more trouble than it's worth. But, you can repartition your hard drive into multiple drive with any one drive not larger than 1GB (1023 cylinders). This reduces the cluster size from 32k to 16k, which can save 10-40% drive space depending on the number of small files you have.

Good Luck & GO DELL!
