I've traded in and out of HLIT several times over the last 1 1/2 years and I find it again very tempting to buy now, but I wonder how many of you have my fear that interational sales will be down and there might be a warning for the future? It seems to me that I really don't understand the exposure to Asia, especially the most troubled countries.

At the same time, there appears to be a very upbeat view on 98 for domestic spending. Can this overcome what could be a disappointing earnings report? Can HLIT come through with a strong enough forward looking statement and maybe a press release? Do we really hang on Microsoft rumours? I sure would feel better if I believed HLIT would support it's share price with a little more vigorous PR.

With estimates of 5 to 6 cents versus last years 15 cents (the figures are from memory), we certainly aren't seeing a great quarter.

How closely do you think they will follow Ortel's lead, who reported a 27% decline in broadband sales this quarter? In fact, could it be worse? I guess we should see some charges from recent aquisitions? Increased SG&A. Perhaps declining margins?

I don't mean to say I know anything is specifically wrong with Harmonic besides bad PR. I just believe we are trading at these lows for a reason and I wonder how many additional surprises could be waiting.

Regards,

Mark

<..Hi there Steve, So what's your take on HLIT going forward? Do you
own HLIT? Where do you see the price over the next 2 months?..>

Hi Tom. I don't own it, but am considering it. A lot of good noise about cable buildout has me interested, but Asia has me cautious. So I'm watching and learning as much as I can. Hiram (Tim) and others here have a much better handle than I do.

Good luck.

Steve
