Thanks, Twick

I'm confused also. And another question: are WebTV and @Home mutually exclusive systems?

It isn't how ATHM fits in, it's how everybody else fits in to what ATHM does.

MSFT wants a prsence in what they believe is big for the future. They see an opportunity to position themselves with CE in settops. $ 1 Bill is another small strategic investment for them. They already have a working agreement with ATHM with IE for high speed access. This is no big deal, but it confirms that MSFT among others believes cable is the next big technological application.

The cable goes to a splitter and either optionally goes to the settop or the PC. It mught go to the PC and then go to the settop when available because the PC could enable through software extensive control of the tv.

There is no conflict between WebTV and ATHM. ATHM is the delivery mechanism. All these companies that you mention and many others have different pieces of this pie that they would like to address.

If you want to be enlightened I suggest you read this thread thoroughly from #600 onward. All your questions will be answered.
