A quote is only good if it is accurate. If she said that, and I doubt she did, it is completely inaccurate. In fact the problem we have with the climate scientist is exactly the opposite. Scientists are very careful about what they say, especially something that has been made artificially controversial by the right wing. There is no controversy about anthropogenic global warming among the top scientists in the world, they collectively feel like they know. It is the know nothings like the Republicans that keep saying this is a controversy. They do that to keep their oil contributors happy. This is exactly the same thing people did with regard to smoking, denying it was habit-forming and dangerous. The scientists as a whole, are actually under stating the problem so as not to leave themselves open to attack. The heat records, melting of the ice in the Arctic and so many other climate variables time after time come up worse than the scientists predicted. I think they are being too cautious. This is a time when the scientists need to step up to the plate and tell us how dangerous this global warming really is. There are some leading scientists that believe that we've already gone too far, that we're past the tipping point I.e. the feedback loops have been set in motion and it is going to run away from us and we can't do anything about it in time to prevent a disaster. << Has to be one of my favorite "climate science" quotes to date: "So, yes, climate scientists might exaggerate, but in today’s world this is the only way to assure any political action and thus more federal funding."* * Monika Kopacz is a program officer within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s climate program office.
