America of course is quite a curiousity. Abundantly wealthy in the natural above anyone's imagination. See all writings on the subject by personal viewers prior to 1620. Lots of books written of personal views of the Heavenly richness of this land. But then the rest of the world was also beautiful. And mostly empty in 1500. I speak of Austalia, equally full of live game and edibles and physical beauty. South America. Virtually untouched. However, a handful of hardworking English Christians got here in the snow with food running out and created a place that every single human that has heard of it since wanted to be in. I have to say that it was somehting about the climate the first English CHristians created. Not to sound racist, but I will make a simple comment I have made all my life. Of all of the neighborhoods in America, of all of the wealth in America, of all of the ethnic backgrounds in America, why is the primest realty on the planet at present homes in predominantly rich white neighborhoods in America. It is because everyone is basically safe there from everything, and one's possessions will probably still be there if one exists the house and goes somewhere else. This is a curious phenomenonon. I believe what James speaks of is that most white Christians, like many, many people who do not classify as white CHristians, are somewhat more secure around white CHristians. And the moreso, the moreso, so to speak. I live in a crime free town which reminds me of a movie set with actors instead of people. It has probably 5 more years and it will be a tattered hell hole like every other city in America. For now most people would like for it to stay a secret, except for those with tourist industries. I do. I have no place left to retreat to. That is what James speaks about. Basic sociological truths. The Indianapolis 500 you speak of has become a dying and frightening place for children, animals and now adults, in case you hadn't noticed. However, compared to many countries, it remains paradise for some. Pray for America, as it is on intervenous tubes right now. Or more like a gut shot elephant, still lumbering at full speed but ready to crash to the ground. Certainly morally, if nothing else, and no major world power has ever lived past its own horrifying moral decay in all of history. It is a sickness that kills a great civilization internally, much like slow death by poison. These are of course the remarks of a lay historian only.
