We're not talking about extremes, we are talking about formulas and equations. What sort of social science, is best for protecting the children, protecting freedom, makes for a healthy and happy society. That is what we are talking about. And the best place to find instruction is history. You go back to 1920. Over the next 12 years, the American people elected three Republican presidents and they gave us the Great Depression. The definitive book on the Great Depression was written by John Kenneth Galbraith. I read it many years ago. It puts the blame for the Great Depression right at the feet of the Republicans. So the people elected FDR, and he immediately put millions of people back to work by creating work for them. Things were horrible. The day he was elected it is rumored he told his top aide go out and find out what the people need to come back and tell me today. He managed to get Social Security and a bunch of other social programs, but he had to fight the Republicans every step of the way. They wanted none of it. Every single social program we take as a natural part of life today was put forth and fought for by the Democrats. Every single one of them. The Republicans have been nothing but obstructionist for 100 years. Fighting for the rich, which is rich in itself. And conning the poor into voting for them. Every time the Democrats get things sorted out ,the Republicans put us back into the toilet. We had only $50 billion in yearly debt under Carter and Reagan and Bush increased it by 500%. Nixon was a full-blown criminal. Reagan worked directly for the plutocrats and his primary job was to bust the unions. And he started with the air traffic controllers and as the unions decline so does the middle class in this country. Then Clinton pulled us back into the black again and turns it over to little Bush and he starts two stupid wars and makes gigantic tax cuts for the very rich and puts us trillions of dollars back in debt again and then practically destroys the economy again. Of the world-loll! Obama pulled us out and stabilized us and got the country going good and now Trump/Republicans get in again and they will surely destroy the whole kit and caboodle before the four years is up. Buy gold and silver. That's where we are now. Balance is what we find in natural beauty, whether in thought or in nature itself. Extremes produce storms of negative results and very little else that could be labeled good:
