Gene Parrott, it's very hard sometimes to get an answer when you address it to the wrong person. BTW, what was your bet re: CPQ? Since I have that also.

Gene - Re: " I think you owe it to the investors on this thread to tell them your opinion of what will happen to Intel's stock price after the earnings report and conference call this month."

I don't know what the revenue, earnings or stock price are going to be.

Since you haven't provided these numbers, I assume you haven't any idea either.

Re: "you think most professional analysts are idiots, but instead of calling them idiots, why not just give the investors your projections for Q1'98 and the reasons for those projections?"

Somebody pays these analysts to put forth their numbers. Nobody pays me to do that. Why should I?

Further, these analysts are changing their opinions and estimates constantly. That means their ability to predict the future is no better than mine - they respond to short term events - I don't get particulary bothered by them (short term events).

I have yet to hear if these analysts' pay is tied to their accuracy. If so, why are those analysts that predicted AMD would be at $90 by now still on the job?

If people are investors, they will invest their money in good companies with good products and good management - Intel is one such company.

If, on the other hand, people are looking to make a fast buck, you should provide them the name of several stocks guranteed to rise and keep on rising - and never drop! You seem to think your ability is better than mine - so let's hear your guranteed-not-to-fail predictions.

Your predictions, Gene?
