Laverne, even those numbers may be conservative. As Telco's start to realize that IP voice is more effecient then PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Networks) the snowball should quickly turn into an avalanche of new technologies. ATM and Frame Relay private networks along with Sonnet Ring utilization will start to dominate the traditional methods of communication.

One other thing to consider, as prices for Long Distance becomes cheaper, the more it will be used, running up average length of conservations. Also there will be wide spread use of such new techs as video conferncing, training via video broadcasting, and a tremendous amount of workgroup applications such as whiteboarding that will be employed by corporate accounts. All this will dwarf the present numbers that are being projected based on existing platforms.

The $60 billion may just be the tip of the iceberg.
