Carolyn's C: drive was also flagged by CrystalDiskInfo and True Image failed when it tried to make an image of it.

I'm thinking a clone is the next thing to try and that was what I did with my mom's Dell computer recently.

Her Dell only had 2 SATA cables, but I used the cables from her DVD drive to connect a new SSD.

After the clone, I took the cables off the SSD and returned them to the DVD drive, then used the cables from her hard-drive to connect the SSD.

I also left her defective hard-drive in the computer case and didn't even bother to mount the SSD with screws.

This was because, to have mounted the SSD with screws would have been a big chore and it would have required removing the hard-drive, which would have also required removing the DVD drive to get it out of a very unfriendly computer case.
