All of the zero interest rate movie was an attempt to stop asset prices from tumbling.

Interest rates will start to rise unless something bad happens and the globe slips back into a bad recession - you know something bad like a protectionist tariff war.

In the US zero interest rates could have ended much sooner if Mitch McConnell wasn't such a bitter old man, but he has been and will be still. So Fiscal policy is off the table.

The only way I see that changing is if Mitch is corrupt so he will agree to an infrastructure spending bill if it favors particular cronies of his. The general impression is he's not - but who knows - every politician has plenty of dark corners.
