Thank you RJA, there are two or 3 factors to consider;
1. The actual solar irradiation which in Israel averages 2,000kwh/sq. meter/ year or a semi arid climate
2. The actual prices of the system within a year which based on official statements are over 30% or more below 2015.
3, when the sun shines most nobody's home all at work or school,no air conditioner open and only the fridge takes some electricity to keep its coolness
4. At a RWE (Innogy) meeting few days ago, they raised the possibility of free electricity at night in many places like South Texas for example

GM and LG promised to come to market with battery pack below $200/kwh and 20 year warranty, Tesla claims $225/kwh when the new format is up and running McKinsey predicts $140 to $160 in two years.
Magnesium ion instead of Lithium ion will be the "price killer" cheaper and 2 electrons/ion double capacity same volumetric size. Foam and carbon nanotubes batteries will be the other revolution

Also packaging is a big part of the battery price

Good morning - regarding pricing you mentioned, this morning I just found this article that may be of interest.

"Moreover, costs have collapsed particularly over the last five years during which battery pack prices have fallen from $1,300 per kWh in 2011 to below $250/kWh today, noting that General Motors is buying batteries from LG Chem for the all electric Chevy Bolt at an amazingly low price of $147/kWh!"

Similar statements I read also somewhere else, in any case the future in batteries is not lithium ion IMHO but other chemistries that are in R&D phase now.
