OT re: Pesto chicken lasagne

I actually used leftover turkey this time instead of chicken, but aside from only having half as much pesto as the recipe wanted, I used the same recipe I got 20+ years ago from a rather distinguished former co-worker who's now back at the mothership. It has been years since I made it last and really just wanted to use up some extra ricotta, but that lasagne has its own agenda and may help me add dill to my all-too-short list of instinctual ingredients. As the lasagne neared completion I sent a note to my football-star son, who was hanging with friends after a day of snowboarding, saying "You do not want to miss this."

He came home shortly thereafter, then had seconds and thirds.

Dessert was the spiced semolina pudding, which also turned out well, but "well" is relative in this case. I seldom make desserts other than the occasional flourless chocolate cake for my wife's birthday. What I learned most from it is that I really don't need to whisk egg whites by hand -- the old Kitchen Aid mixer is much better at that than I, and complains less to boot.
