Houston's economy and the current downturn:

Since Dec 2014, the Houston area has lost 80K oil related jobs. It has also gained 27K service related jobs ... things like nursing, teaching, etc. And has gained an unknown number of petrochemical related construction jobs on the east side. Not sure how that all works out.

But in the 1980's downturn, the area lost 17% of all jobs, about 225K jobs. Since then, the area's population has doubled. So a 17% decrease now would work out to 450K jobs. And what we've seen is nowhere near that.

As I've said before, this oil down cycle seems pretty mild on the Houston economy compared to what I've seen in the past. The numbers above I saw yesterday demonstrate that.

Glidewell pulled the trigger and a bullet ripped through a post in the kitchen, struck Ingram and knocked him back through the window, Glidewell said.
I'll bet the window was open also....... What does centerfire have to do with anything? Appears the shooter was a regular caller to the cops...
