Not sure if that will solve your problem but firmware 2.02 is out from Philips (HP's offical release should follow). According to many HP users, you can upgrade your HP with the Philips firmware patch.

Other than some specific compatibility problems, the CDD3610/HP7110 is a very good CD-RW. Unlike many other CDR, it doesn't has heat problem , does reliable burning compare to other CDRs and has a flash bios. The Adaptec s/w is probably one of the best s/w around but the bundle s/w in 7110 does not include a pre-master burning tool which disappoing many users including me.
