The real problem we have is simply income inequality. I don't see income inequality as inherently a problem. Not sure I see it as a problem at all but rather rather a symptom of the real problem. It is not constructive long term to mitigate symptom while leaving the underlying problem to fester.

Did you see Meet The Press this morning and the conversation with the guy responsible for the show Dirty Job? I thought it was a fascinating conversation and highlighted the idea of education as it relates to jobs. One thing that struck me was the importance of a sense of accomplishment that many people get out of working with their hands. At the end of the day they have something to show for their efforts whereas people working at a desk does not - their desk looks the same at the end of the day as it did when they came to work. Unless we re-adapt slavery or have as a policy a never ending supply of illegal immigrants to do menial work - we will always have bunches of jobs for people not needing a college education. disclosure; never seen the show.
