Welfare without education just keeps a person alive. But keeping people alive has to be the first order of business for a society. Welfare is both a moral and a fundamental component of a humanitarian society.

Welfare is not the answer... recognizing small things that have import is part of the answer.. Our ideals are screwed up... There will never be a getting away from the competitive nature of man... We are a mixture... We are NOT ants...and we will not survive on an INDIVIDUAL basis either ... We need to recognize that.. Each person has value... Not all are equal... but we need to be FAIR.. everyone that contributes needs (deserves) a decent life.. and a chance that their progeny can do better.
