It does change for liberals because they see that primitive emotion is no longer valid and so their perception changes based on modern reality. .

That post is more telling than you know. Yes, it is stamped into our DNA. But the trick is to intellectually realize that it is a wrong emotion. And correct it.

That is what the liberals do and what the Republicans do not do.

<<<<Liberals do not tolerate racists, for a New York second.>>>>

Deep down at the gut level racism is in our DNA. It is a survival mechanism. At the visceral level it is hardwired. And that doesn't change whether you are liberal or conservative and that democrats don't get that is just one of the reasons they are losing all across the country. That doesn't mean your best friend can't be another race - it just means that placed in a particular situation - your instincts kick in. There isn't a person reading these threads that if placed in the middle of an Iraq town surrounded only by people living in that town - could do so without some discomfort and anxiety.

Wariness of strangers, perhaps. But the notion of race goes back only a few hundred years so it could hardly be hard wired.

There isn't a person reading these threads that if placed in the middle of an Iraq town surrounded only by people living in that town - could do so without some discomfort and anxiety.

Folks from that part of the world are categorized as white for U.S. census purposes so that sort of rules out racism, if not discomfort.

How so? There weren't even any races until our ancestors came out of Africa and interbred with Neanderthals, Denisovans and possibly one other species of Homo. And that was maybe 70,000 years ago. Far too short of a time to have something on the level of DNA.

It is much more likely that racism is a cultural thing.

Some of our right wing friends have expressed that after visiting NYC!
