My feel for big mining plays likely to influence Vulcan in 1998--

1. Alberta-- Ashton, Pure gold, and others including Vulcan's diamond play: see fagan.stockscape.com

2. Labrador-- Donner Resouces (DML:V) and Copperhill Resources (CUHL:CDN) plays will likely replicate previous excitment over Diamond Fields at Voisey's bay, Labrador. Only God knows what is in the Goose South Property holds.

3. Newfoundland-- The ongoing extensive oil development and exploration in and around the province and the above expectations in production levels at Hibernia combined with an increasing interest by the majors in oil production on the West and East coast of Newfoundland is bound to attract interest in Vulcan's own significant oil find which I understand is due for further exploration as you note.

My feeling is that the "big money" that has been played out in the bull market over the past year now has to choose other sources as base on which to grow and I believe the recent influences which you note in your email can be attributed to this. The year-end cocktail circuit has probably been responsible for Vulcan and other junior companies getting some "free air time" with a consequence of the "big money" beginning to put their bets in strong junior resourse sector plays which include sound management and a probable or proven resourse record. The plays noted above are positioned to avail of investment attention by the "big money". Vulcan is rightfully getting some of the attention it deserves. This is my take!

Happy New Year!

Alberta Tango-- Vulcan and Buffalo Hills diamond play!

Additional information from Yorkton seems to bear out what some are seeing as an excellent opportunity for the Alberta Diamond play.

Len

Don't really know why Vulcan had a little run but I do know that it has been a fairly good stock for a fella to make 15- 20% gains on during its runs in the last few years. I do know that they stuck the arse end of a drill on a Mrs. MacDonalds property in Campbells Creek and she let out a bellow of oil that was heard all the way to North Sydney. You never know.

As for diamonds I am a believer that a company knows a lot more than they let on during early exploration and I think that this is brought out by Diamond Fields in Labrador. Who else got a thing down there???
What I'm saying is that Ashton is front and centre in Alberta and for probable good reason. For that reason my moneys on them. As for the junior market the assays from Pitt Sound Island were better in the 30's than Bre-x which goes to show what hype can do in a market eager for a fairy tale.

Nways I hope you do well and hopefully can jig a cod legally off the Owl on Gooseberry this coming summer.

Cheers
