The only thing we could do that would work would be extreme economic pressure on Russia and Iran. I don't believe Trump is willing to do this. We can't take ISIS out from the air without enormous civilian casualties. So that's out. Troops on the ground would be another "house to house" mess that won't work. Any way we move in Syria will be encouraged by the Left and then attacked by them as the wrong thing to do. It's a "no win" situation. Underlying the savagery is the extreme hatred the Shiite's have for the Sunni's and vice versa. They each want to kill all of the others. We planted the wind by intervening over there and now we are reaping the whirlwind. It's Orcs vs Goblins. The Sunni civilians who are on their knees begging for help would do the same to Shiites if they had the chance.
