The transition to English is complete in some majors and still in process in others. Clearly those majoring in German literature are going to be taking more German language classes than engineers or scientists which are almost uniformly taught in English. This is the reason German has offered free tuition at public German colleges, as well as additional financial support, to native English speakers from the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Not England, though. At least that's my understanding. I'd love to have my youngest nephew attend college in Berlin, Leipzig or Köln - but he seems inclined to remain in the US for the first two years. I know he would like it and have offered to take him on a tour of the colleges there. He has another American Uncle who graduated from a German Technical University. Germany has a vitality now and equality which has been lost in America. Every time we're in Germany or Australian I relax and feel like I'm in a normal society without the distortions and anger the boils in America due to the income growth disparity between the beneficiaries of Reagan's tax cut and those who got shafted.
