Sonki, yes I did, but I agree with you on working far too hard. The way I try to rationalize all the energy put into stocks and indexes' is that it broadens one's natural need to feed curioity.

The excuse of this pursuit as being performed to make money is an illusion. If we really wanted only to make money, we would behave like roaring beasts at the doors of our investments and not hang on when they become losers. The art of selling is more difficult than the art of buying. But since we aren't always beasts, we willingly gamble against the visible probability of failure.
