AUSTIN — Californian Daniel Brezenoff delivered a petition to the Texas secretary of state early Monday calling for the state's 38 Electoral College voters to pick Hillary Clinton over President-elect Donald Trump and support the outcome of the popular vote.

While the online petition garnered nearly 5 million signatures, Breznoff presented the secretary of state's office with the 265,000 signatures on the petition from Texans.

"I started it because I knew it was the only constitutional path left to stopping Donald Trump from assuming office," he said during a protest at the state Capitol on Monday morning. "There's 38 electors [in Texas], and that just happens to be the exact number of Republican electors that would need to defect to elect Hillary Clinton, so we thought that had some symbolic importance."

Electors from every state meet Monday to vote. Texas' electors will meet at 2 p.m. in the House chamber of the state Capitol. In preparation for the vote, nearly 100 protesters gathered outside the Capitol to encourage electors to vote for "anyone but Trump."

"People think that it's in their best interest to vote for whoever the state voted for, but that's not true," said Jacob Rubio, a 22-year-old Austin resident at the protest. "The criteria hasn't been met with Trump. He has zero political experience. He's a TV celebrity running the country."

One Texas elector has already pledged not to support Trump: Dallas paramedic Chris Suprun. In a New York Times op-ed, Suprun wrote that Trump is not qualified to be president and urged other electors to look elsewhere come Monday's vote. Suprun said he would choose Ohio Governor John Kasich, a former Republican presidential candidate.

Art Sisneros, another Texas Republican serving as an elector, said he would rather resign than vote for Trump. In addition to voting for president, Texas electors will vote in a replacement for Sisneros on Monday afternoon.

Texas GOP Chairman Tom Mechler issued a statement last week calling for electors to "honor their pledge" to support the nominee.

"Any discord being sowed on this issue is absolutely a ploy by the Democratic Party and their liberal allies," Mechler said in the statement. "Our electors signed an oath to support the nominee when it was obvious that Mr. Trump would be our nominee. ... To cast a ballot against the will of the voters after signing an affidavit promising to do so, is to refuse to accept the outcome of an election."

Trump captured 306 electoral votes — compared with Clinton's 232 — 38 of which came from Texas. The president-elect won the Lone Star State with about 52 percent of the popular vote.

In part Obama is right, however he needs to look to his own administration.

E.G. He lost West Virginians When the disaster happened in the mine in W. Va.
He went to visit the people in that area and was patronizing not helpful.

He condescended to the people of W. Va. and the miners. Hillary then came into
try to save the day for her self; but Hillary is about as ignorant about mining as
Obama was.

The States have turned away from the Democrat Party in this election will not go back to the
Dems for decades.

Obama's biggest mistake was bringing in more and more illegals--------and beginning the takeover
by the Federal Government of the Housing market. Even now we have Obama hawking the same
government programs that have destroyed the middle class twice since he has been in office.

Like the Clinton's the Obama's may attempt to get Muchelle elected to something-----a reason of course
to stay in Washington area.
