I did not mean to imply that Zip and Jaz were more reliable than CD-R and CD-RW with that first post. I only meant that people see advantages to using them.

And I was talking about CD-R, not CD-RW, in the second post. I was responding to RM's contention that you can use CD-R "just like a floppy" up to the point where the capacity limit is reached.

No problem. In fact, I didn't do any homework. I relied on what I know from experience. I'll be glad to admit that I do not have experience with a wide range of CD-R and CD-RW devices. But I do know that while many of them support packet writing, many of them do not.
