trust you concur that floating but clearly engineered devices in international or one's own territorial waters may be inspected to determine true nature, threat level, and whether it endangers freedom of navigation, and if so, origin and accountability

am sure that fukushima radiation is being tracked and inspected all around the pacific ocean global commons and w/i various territorial waters for same good reasons

on the one hand

and on the other, getting info to come up w/ a more commercial and efficacious alternative for the export market is a win win solution

besides, the media seem to like making fuss, else have less reason to be around, and thus, to save jobs, feedings must be provided

besides, the usa navy wants reasons to increase budget

so, all around positives

and ... oh, the philippines lack the means to do the necessary, and am almost sure duterte in manila is okay w/ the assistance rendered had the drone / glider (the object had propellers and so perhaps a hybrid rather than a glider) been w/i philippines territorial waters

btw, recently there were several drones that were 'stolen' and 'inspected' and 'returned', by filipino fishermen and to the usa authorities, for example manilatimes.net and rappler.com and foxnews.com

these objects are potential hazards, and team usa has 2,000+ of these things, best be inspected to determine nature of floating threat to freedom of navigation, and if deemed necessary, cleaned up

If you've been to China you know that the large ocean east of the South China Sea is the East China Sea which extends all the way to California. It's China's "One Ocean Policy".
