Holly, This book sounds delightful! And I think that it's going to be so prophetic and true for many of us. It's definitely happening to me as I hit these years. (For all the kidding around with Terry, I really can't claim to be a teenager.) I talked to a therapist who was wonderful when my mother was dying, and she (being almost 70) has been there and done all this before us. SHe is beautiful, very wise and funny, and very alive. (Incidentally, she's been on estrogen for over 20 years and immediately recommended it to me)She said that she sees many women our age who only now, as we hit these years, are finding out who we really are, are realizing how we were raised to limit ourselves and denigrate our abilities, and who now want to make sure we make these next 20-30 years count. I often find myself impatient with people and situations because -damn it!-I don't have the same kind of TIME anymore. My life no longer extends into some unforeseeable and distant future where there is an unending number of tomorrows to start again.
So along with HRT and some wonderful women friends of the same brave years, I find myself looking ahead with some excitement. I'm beginning to believe that the only who can hold me back is me.
