The FBI has already made the case and the sentence is being carried out. There's nothing to discuss. Putin's emails with his crony associates where they documented their direct involvement in Ukraine, which they previously denied, have already been released "by an unknown Ukrainian hacker". This response is verifiable and known to be just the beginning. The Senate wants their Intelligence Oversight Committee to confirm this "hacking response" before Trump takes office so no possible weakness on his part will affect US policy. That's very sensible.
