I was kind of heading in that direction. For the last two years now for the first time in my life I have watched a plethora of Asian movies. I watch the Asian movies, and they almost always interest me in one way or another, then I try to go back to Hollywood and it's like I'm slogging through mud. I go back to an Asian movie and look at the crisp dialogue, speed of thought, the attention to detail, politeness, the colors, the humor and the emotional depth, and organization and drama and once again I am sated. In the last week, I have bought four Hollywood movies and not finished one of them. Yet I have no trouble watching all the way through a Japanese or South Korean soap opera fascinated simply by the level of the dialogue. The neat and clean dress and homes-lol. They are an enigmatic culture to me, because I had never been around the Asian culture. They combine a cultural understanding of learning, aesthetics and empathy, yet that is all interwoven in times and places with the most horrific behavior. 1940 Japanese military. Talk about a conundrum. But the human species might end up being saved by them as unlikely as that may seem to some. My favorite South Korean movie now is called descendents of the sun. It is a drama about some South Korean special forces going to Afghanistan to protect some South Korean doctors. Very emotional movie, sweet. It depicts a society that is so smart, so ethical, so beautiful and poetic, romantic, shy, humor, and philosophical, kind and good and perceptive, neat and clean that it cannot be true-lol? I don't know-lol, but it sure is pretty to look at! Cinematography, colors, beautiful, Like a nice song; and organized, with top drawer acting and casting and probably the most romantic relationship I've ever seen in any movie in my life. Newman and ? I can just see a couple of South Koran, male or female, UC Berkeley cinema directors working on that. It's attention to detail. And then I flipped back to Superman versus Batman. I mean really-lol? lol
