Sounds like mental masturbation to me. The "counterculture" was never a segment or even a definable culture. The real culture fight was for civil rights and justice... and peaceful resolutions not wars. It called out Democrats (LBJ/Humphrey/VIETNAM) as well as Republicans (southern strategy/hypocrisy.) The Limbaugh and ilk version was "dirty hippy commies." The vast majority of liberals in this formerly enlightened country only resort to obstruction in extreme cases of social justice. The neoconservatives and modern right want 100% win/lose. THAT is the story of the last 8 years. Poison Obama policies. Reject all progressive precedents and American dynamism. This is the partisan Disinformation Age -- and it is a confluence of our new profit center media structure as well as modern cognitive science base technologies of propaganda. The rise of bullying and logical fallacies as normal, in the common dialogue. Pogo had it right. Humans are at a steep cliff and if we don't build bridges, billions will suffer and many will die a brutal death in the next decade. Trump style capitalism will implode like communism, with the power of rightwing classes at the top, and their greed, and their nationalism.
