Its quite possible to oppose trade treaties due to the details written in them; and not want to raise tariffs.

Tell it to the longshoremen and truck drivers who work the coastal docks.

Or our agricultural exporters.

Or the high tech companies' workers who want to protect patients and code from piracy through agreements.

Tariffs... are usually political tools. They distort markets, they cost our GDP more than we save; and ultimately cause recessions and depressions along with loss of competitiveness.

The improved GDP is there, even for the flawed NAFTA. The issue of the wealth gap is where we should be focused. Global trade with human rights, is critical to the future and also to collective treasuries.
