I'll say one thing, you have thought that through-lol.

<<

YES I think that is wrong... one two three months fine... but 30+ weeks ?

Perfect example.

I would say no abortion ought to be illegal for all the reasons I've been harping about today. Why 30 weeks or any other number of weeks?

People sometimes conflate illegal and immoral. They are not the same thing. It may or may not be immoral to abort at 30 weeks but that's not the point. It's who decides. Is the woman free to make a mistake or to do something that offends the conscience of others?

I would consider it immoral to abort a healthy, viable fetus without cause. I would say it is not immoral to abort under any circumstances to save the woman. I would say it is immoral to fail to abort at any time once discovered that the fetus is incompatible with life and would experience nothing but great suffering once born. Mercy is not immoral. But that's just me. I would further say that late term abortions are not common and most always done because something horrible has happened. And that the parties on the ground, the woman along with her medical team and any other interested parties, are in the best position to make the call. And we should accept her right to make it and tolerate whatever she decides.

There's no chance I will face that decision anytime soon. Some other woman's choice is none of my business. What makes it anyone else's business?

OK That is a morally defensible point of view..

I agree.

Now the case I posted was really a poster situation for pro-life,. What if the problems detected would mean a marginal human at great expense to the parents and HC system... I can understand that.. and frankly usually parents like that undergo enough pain without 3rd party crap...

But you know here in Canada your delivery date may be in 3 days... you can legally abort now .. 3 days earlier.. College of surgeons says No way.. but that is BS :((
It is ALReADY WELL DOCUMENTE BY THE GOVERNEMENRT THAT SOUTH ASIANS HAVE A HUGE MALE TO FEMALE BIRTH RATE DUE TO SEX SELECTION... NOT RIGHT PERIOD... That has ZERO to do with a woman's right It is just EVIL...

The moral and philosophical basis is that at some point a fetus becomes close enough to being a baby that the baby takes on rights such that it needs for the state to protect it.

Practically, though, babies can be born at earlier stages and survive. It makes it difficult for large numbers of society to rationalize the taking of a life for convenience.

I am pro choice but 20 weeks and that is it. Even a 10 year old can understand that rule. If you want an abortion you get befor 20 weeks. Otherwise you're gonna be a mommy. When the push for partial birth the lose me and I think a lot of others.
