Supposing it to be real, he said by 1992 it would be laughably not doable. I don't get modern warfare, at least in the sense of nation against nation. This approach suggests a proliferation to the point of annihilation (of the other guys), as a method of thwarting international saber rattling, backed by nuke development. To some extent, that is what happened when only one country had "the bomb."

Looking ahead at that scenario, one has to wonder what to do when one or both in the alliance become marauding Scramblernotches. Not that our guys could ever ... right?
