The new sovereign is naked. I use, to gauge the economies of the places I work in by:

  • The cranes int he landscape.
  • New cars vs old cars in the streets.
  • Which clientele is in restaurants and bars clientele.
  • How well stocked the bars are.

For Asia I trust the judgement of the Japanese to assess

Here is what you missed because I did not tell you, (on purpose) just to see if you knew the important facts to take into consideration.

When I wrote Income per head, I did a trick, I did not mentioned Disposable Income.
Waited to see if you would correct and tell me that the focus should be in Disposable Income rather on income per head.

Now I will tell you that the important measurement is Disposable Income.

You are already thinking: Holy Shit! Elmat is right when he evaluates the countries he goes according to the metrics of his last posting. Stock of the bars, new cars clentele at restaurants...

China has little disposable income despite the myth they save everything.

Now for the dangers of Balkanization of China that I have always alluded to in here. (Do not run away just yet) There is still more on stock for you

If you look to the China map and see how Disposable income varies widely within the country, you would see the blatant inequalities that eventually topples government if not very clever..
