You can perhaps say that this language is capricious and arbitrary and allowed your superiors to cloak what was possibly a personal vendetta. Also, age discrimination might apply if you are over 40. Take the written policy on qualifications, conditions for reassingment, etc, with you when you go to the lawyer. Were all positions subject to the same rigid standars as your position? Were other employees held to your standard? The same standard for employee conduct must be used. If the University is being internally inconsistent this could be very favorable to your case.
