I'm still trying to see how if I'm going the speed of light and turn on my flashlight pointing in front of me, the light from the flashlight won't go anywhere because the speed of light is finite.


Sounds like the witch doctors that said the sound barrier couldn't be broken.
There's all sorts of issues involving causality if you were able to go above light speed as measured in a vacuum.

If you keep propelling something to go faster and faster, some of the energy goes into velocity, some of it goes into making the thing more massive. As more energy is pumped in, larger amounts go to mass and that limits the speed to under the speed of light in vacuum.

You can go above "light speed" in certain cases - the speed of light varies according to the material that light is going through.

Light goes at different speed in glass, air and materials - the fastest is in vacuum and there hasn't been anything measured that goes faster.
