>In contrast, the fools are recommending Coke, Microsoft and GE to just about any idiot that can fog a mirror.<

For the past 3-4 years I've made darn good money on Coke and Microsoft (I don't own GE). To date I've only lost money on UTEK. I guess I'm an idiot but I thought making money was the objective of the exercise.

Dipy, you are right on. In addition, he does not recommend more than a total of 20% of your equitys allocation in individual stocks.

If past performance is any indicator, those who bought ONTK will do very well in the long run. For example, on 10/19/95 I bought 1000 UTEK at $21.25 (another of Bob's recommendations, which he had been recommending since early 95 when it was $13). Similar to UTEK, ONTK went down to $13 at which time I bought another 1000 shares at $13.75. I later sold (on Bob's recommendation when it was acquired by another firm) in Sept of 97 for $33.725. A fairly good return on invested funds.

Microsoft, another one of Bob's earlier recommendations, turned $60,000 invested in Sept of 93 to 2000 shares today worth almost $260,000. I only wish I had bought Microsoft back in 87 when he first recommended it at a price adjusted basis of around $3.50 per share. The difference, Bob recommended it when it was $3.50, the Fools are recommending it now at $130 at about 40 to 50 times earning.

Bob only recommends an individual stock, which is a good stock he follows closely, and only then, when it is a very good value. The difference is the Fools say buy any good stock, no matter what it is priced at, because you will make money over time. You MAY make money, over time, following the Fools recommendations, but you will make significantly MORE, over time, following Bob's recommendations.
