“I think that we can talk about economics, and that we can do it under a big tent,” Kelly said.”

I vote for her.

I have spent most of my life sticking up for underdogs of every type. I was particularly engaged in the civil rights and women's rights movements back in the day. There's a difference between focusing on identity to gain equal treatment under law and inclusion vs encouraging parallel cultures for identity groups. I still support the melting pot. Inclusion, good. Variety of color and texture, good. Multi-culti smokestacks, not so much. We need to be Americans first. I think that the D's are way too wrapped up in differences and extremes. If I had control of a university, one of the first things I would do would be to get rid of majors in identity-group studies and merge the subject into the sociology department. They exaggerate differences.
