qualified dividends are currently taxed at a max Federal rate of 20%. Not all dividends are qualified. REIT dividends are taxed like ordinary income and MLP' distributions are tax deferred and reported in separate K1 statement. Those distributions are not included in your Broker's 1099 report.

The Trump administration wants to reform the Federal Tax code so all of this is subject to change.
