I think you underestimate what people will do and who they will support when their lives are under duress, when they are not making enough money to support their families due to economic conditions. It's true that the media has been on a crusade against socialism for as long as I can remember. But they went on a crusade against Donald Trump (with the exception of Fox) and he still got elected. Never say never. Eclectic socialism can happen here.
