I don't use them for ideas either. I use them to start pulling on strings, which has caused me to look at some stuff I might've missed otherwise.

Trump may be the best thing that ever happened to TWTR, he is basically a brand ambassador. TWTR has scale and an early mover advantage, but it is lacking monetization. The 144 characters are not as a rich of a medium for monetization than the data and photos and posts that FB has on their platform, but I can’t help to think that mismanagement is also part of the problem. I do think that TWTR will be gobbled up by FB or maybe GOOG eventually to increase their footprint in people’s communication and time on the web and these guys know how to monetize.
