Oh, crap. You never met a tax you didn't like.

If you want a massive increase in bureaucracy that guarantees only Walmart and other big businesses can exist, VAT is a good way to move that direction.

The thing liberals love about it is they have this strange sense that it is "free money." Of course, it kills economic growth just like the rest of them.

I don't think you're going to get one anytime soon. If you do, Trump will be a failed president.

I like VAT taxes too.

Since you're not getting any younger, one factor you might want to consider is that, to the consumer, the VAT is effectively a sales tax so some arguments re sales vs income tax apply. When you've saved after-tax money all your life to support yourself in retirement, it's a blow, not to mention unfair, to have to pay tax yet again on those savings when you spend them.
